Generally, most TIMs are composed of silicone oils but not all of them have strong molecular connections with alumina powders and other compositions. In ambient conditions, though, it will still have issues of oil-leaking during storage period, which is worse under more harsh conditions, as you can possibly imagine.

l Especially for those silicon-sensitive components, it’ll be a disaster for structure designs
l In LEDs & some optical instrument, siloxane will evaporate then condense into oil liquids on the light source and lens, which will lower the light output performance gradually
